We built a network of real cat owners who test every product we consider selling. Their cats decide what ships. Not us.
The pet industry has a trust problem.
Most pet brands pick products based on margins, supplier deals, and trend reports. They slap a "vet approved" badge on the listing and call it a day. Nobody asks the cat.
We thought that was backwards. So we built a system where the cat's opinion is the deciding vote.

Real Cat Owners
Not a lab. Not a focus group. Real people with real cats in real homes — apartments, houses, multi-cat households, single-cat setups.
Structured Data Collection
Every tester fills out a standardized scorecard — engagement level, durability, safety observations, repeat-use frequency, and their cat's honest reaction.
Approval Threshold
A product must score 4.0+ across all categories from at least 10 testers to earn the "MeowTested Approved" badge. Most don't make it.

From sourcing to your door — every product goes through this gauntlet.
Sourcing & Screening
We identify candidate products from vetted US suppliers. Each must meet baseline criteria: US warehouse stock, 4.7+ supplier rating, 500+ orders, safe materials. ~60% of candidates are eliminated here.
Internal Testing
Products that pass screening ship to our team first. We test with our own cats for durability, safety, and basic engagement. If our cats won't touch it, it doesn't go to the network.
Network Distribution
Surviving products ship to 10–25 testers in the MeowTested Network. Each tester receives the product free, along with a structured testing guide and scorecard.
Data Compilation & Scoring
After 7–14 days of testing, we compile scorecards across 6 dimensions:
- Cat Engagement — Does the cat actively seek out the product?
- Safety — Any concerns about materials, choking, or ingestion?
- Durability — Does it survive real cat use for 2+ weeks?
- Ease of Use — Can the owner use/clean/maintain it without frustration?
- Repeat Use — Does the cat come back to it, or lose interest after day 1?
- Owner Satisfaction — Would the tester buy this at retail price?
Approval Decision
Products scoring 4.0+ average across all 6 dimensions from at least 10 testers earn the MeowTested Approved badge and go live in our shop. Everything else gets cut — no exceptions, no overrides.

We don't hide the data. Every approved product on our shop shows its real network scores — the average across all testers, broken down by dimension. If you want to know exactly why we sell something, the numbers are right there.
Products that fail testing? We publish those too. Our blog documents what didn't make the cut and why — so you know we're not just picking winners.

We're building a community of cat owners who want to help other cat owners make better choices. As a tester, you'll:
- Receive free products to test with your cat
- Get early access to new products before they launch
- Earn store credit for every completed test ($10–$25 per product)

We review applications weekly. Priority goes to diverse households — different cat breeds, ages, and living situations give us better data.
